Vigil and Ghost Tire Memorial Placement for the Four Pepperdine Students Killed on PCH

  • 23661 Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA, 90265 United States (map)

The Fix PCH Action Team - a coalition of Malibu community members, and the non-profit Streets Are For Everyone - will be hosting a vigil and Ghost Tire Memorial placement for the four Pepperdine students who were tragically hit and killed by a speeding driver on Pacific Coast Highway.

We are asking Caltrans to slow down PCH and fix it.

There have been 58 lives lost on the 21 Miles of PCH which runs through Malibu since 2010, when 13 year old Emily Shane was killed on PCH and the community came together for lasting change.

In 2015 a study was done which gave an exhaustive list of changes that could be made on PCH in order to prevent further deaths, the majority of which needed to be done by the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans). Those effective, lasting, life-saving changes have not been made.

On October 17th 2023, the lives of 4 young Pepperdine students, about to graduate next year, were cut short by a speeding driver going over 100MPH on Pacific Coast Highway.

This must stop.

State Senator Ben Allen, County Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, The Malibu Mayor, Malibu City Council and the Sheriff's department have all pledged effective change on this 21 Mile stretch of PCH. The department who HAS the power to make this permanent and lasting change is Caltrans and Caltrans alone.

Please join us in memorializing the lives of these four bright, beautiful young spirits and in calling for tangible and effective action to slow down PCH and fix it.
